Milacron has incorporated its Adaptive Process System (APS) software platform into Mold-Masters melt delivery control technologies, which include hot runner controllers, E-Drive electric valve gating, sequential valve gates, servo-electric valve gates, E-Multi auxiliary injection units and SmartMold technology.

Improved APS features include an adaptive auto-tuning heat control, as well as an adaptive motor control with auto-tuning for maintaining precise linear movement. The system also offers short-circuit protection; even heat to ensure proper thermal expansion; automatic soft-start and continuous GND fault detection; intelligent leak detection; an alarmed water flow system that includes flow, temperature and pressure measuring; and fully integrated I/O alarms for mold and machine protection.

According to the company, the technology enables systems to adapt to difficult engineering materials, high pressure, small shot sizes, high viscosity and electrical environment variations. Its ability to self-adjust speed to maintain 0.1-F control accuracy, adaptive control low mass/high watt density nozzle, and auto-staged heating system ensure part accuracy.
