SolidWorks (Concord, MA) has announced that SolidWorks® 2007 software is the first 3D CAD product available and certified by Microsoft Corp. for the new Windows Vista operating system, which results in new enhancements. Users can work more effectively and design better products with features that optimize efficiency and visual interaction. Features include Windows Aero user interface effects, which provides translucent windows, dynamic reflections and smooth animations. These effects will help customers focus on their content rather than the tools and interface—reducing software overhead. In addition, the software presents users with new capabilities for search, preview, navigation and content syndication. For example, SolidWorks software is fully integrated with the powerful new Instant Search feature in Windows Vista and expands on it by incorporating deep knowledge of how 3D CAD users work. As a result, Instant Search will return the results that SolidWorks users seek, whether from the hard drive, the SolidWorks Toolbox, or repositories associated with PDMWorks® software and the 3D ContentCentral® service. This integration enables design teams to accomplish more work in less time. Other enhancements include high-resolution images as previews in common dialogs and search results, which will give users much more information without requiring them to open the documents. The software also takes advantage of the RSS feed capabilities in Windows Vista, giving the software a new, efficient way to deliver tips, notices and event information to customers.
