Demand for small parts has led D-M-E Co., Madison Heights, Mich., to extend its Stellar hot-runner product line into precision micro-molding. New sizes can be used in mold bases with center distances as tight as 17 mm. The system works with commodity or engineering resins and features tips, heaters, and thermocouples that can be replaced while the mold is in the press. Nozzle bodies are interchangeable. Multi-nozzle assemblies are available with two to 16 drops.
