CoroCut XS inserts from Sandvik Coromant (Fair Lawn, NJ) were designed to produce precision-turned components with diameters as small as 1 mm. The inserts are precision ground to contain extremely sharp edges, ensuring the tightest possible tolerances in external machining operations—such as grooving, threading, parting and turning. Each insert has a grooving width of just .5 mm and a parting width of only .7 mm—allowing for productivity gains in high-volume production. These inserts provide a flexible solution, with all inserts compatible with the same toolholder for all operations. The design also allows the insert screw to be reached from either side of the toolholder, offering easy access when indexing the insert.
