The Agietron Advance 2 CNC ram EDM features a small footprint to fit in a compact 8' × 10' work zone. No external cables or hoses are necessary since the filters, electrode magazine, dielectric unit, CNC and generator fit in this space. Installation requires only machine leveling and connection of electrical, water and air supplies. Start up and production is said to be possible within an hour. The machine has a new generator, rigid c-frame construction, wide guideways for worktank accessibility, high-resolution servo (1/8 micron; 0.000005") and precision ground ballscrews to provide fast erosion speed and surface finish to 0.2 Ra. A four-position electrode magazine is integrated into the worktank. The company says the user interface reduces programming time from hours to minutes by simplifying complex job programming for multi-cavity, planetary, helical shape, deep rib and four-axis erosion. The system is also said to provide full erosion path contouring capabilities. The machine’s automatic erosion programming control allows users to select erosion technologies by application type and set minimum wear and maximum removal priorities. Some of the built-in planetary (orbiting) application technologies include equimode, circular orbit, 2D vector, 3D vector, continuous rotation, continuous circle or sphere, and contouring.
