Siemens PLM Software has released Version 62.0 of its D-Cubed 2D Dimensional Constraint Manager (2D DCM), a software component that controls 2D parametric sketches in 2D and 3D design environments.

Siemens PLM Software has released Version 62.0 of its D-Cubed 2D Dimensional Constraint Manager (2D DCM), a software component that controls 2D parametric sketches in 2D and 3D design environments.

Enhancements include improved solution control for line-line constraints whereby the component will try to differentiate between different solutions and, by default, choose a solution based on the initial positions of the geometries. In addition, unless instructed otherwise, 2D DCM will maintain the solution from one evaluation to the next, providing a more predictable response to changes to the model, the company says. If the result of the first evaluation is not the desired one, 2D DCM offers a function for changing the solution.

The component’s driving dimensions (parameters) and geometric constraints specify the location of the geometries in 2D sketches, and end-users can modify their designs by changing dimension values or dragging geometry.
