In addition to its full line of carbide and ceramic inserts and cutting tools, Greenleaf Corporation (Saegertown, PA) will showcase its Excelerator® Milling system and its Ring Max™ ring-groove cutter line, both using WG-600® whisker-reinforced ceramic inserts at Westec. Greenleaf's Excelerator® Mills are designed for high-performance milling in difficult-to-machine materials using Greenleaf's advanced ceramic inserts. Typical application areas include most hardened materials above 40 R/c and nickel- and cobalt-based super alloys. The Ring Max™ ring-groove cutters are engineered to cut machining time of API ring grooves. Combined with our whisker-reinforced ceramic inserts, Ring Max™ tools can reduce cutting time from 30 minutes or more to less than one minute. WG-600®, the latest development in whisker-reinforced ceramic inserts, is ideal for the roughing and finishing of high-strength alloys and hardened steels. WG-600® is a coated Al2O3 whisker-reinforced ceramic that delivers better tool life than uncoated whisker-reinforced ceramic inserts.
