Handtmann will showcase the PBZ HD 600 profile machining center, specially equipped for high-performance machining of aluminum profiles ranging to 6,000 mm in length. The five-axis machine is designed for interference-free machining of five sides of a part, including milling, sawing, drilling, thread milling and cutting—all of which are possible with a single clamping, the company says. The rigid machine design with a fixed portal and powerful head/spindle combination are said to provide high material-removal rates and high precision.

XYZ axis travels are 7,250 × 1,500 × 1,000 mm, and travel speeds are 70 × 40 × 40 m/min. in the linear axis. Along with a 58- kW spindle and spindle speed of 30,000 rpm, the machine at the show will also feature a Siemens 840D sl control, a tool magazine with 36 tool positions and an integrated 400-mm-diameter saw blade.

Integrated chip management over the entire machine length enables removal of the high volume of chips generated by the machining process. Additionally, a completely enclosed workzone ensures a clean working environment. Models in the PBZ series are available with either clamping vices or in a table version. The maximum workpiece cross section in the clamping-vices version is 800 × 300 mm, while the table version permits profiles ranging to 800 × 575 mm.
