Powerful Puma MX mill-turns from Doosan Infracore (West Caldwell, NJ) can now be equipped with Coromant Capto® machine-adapted clamping units from Sandvik Coromant (Fairlawn, NJ) designed for the lower turret for faster and safer tool changes with greater tooling rigidity.

The tool selection consists of OD, ID and face clamping units for static tools. Driven tools for OD and face milling and drilling are available. Double Coromant Capto clamping units are also available to address the sub spindle as well as the main spindle. According to the manufacturer, these machine adapted clamping units provide better performance and faster tool changes. The units are ready-equipped to channel high pressure coolant (80 bar or 1160 psi) to the cutting heads.

Puma MX models combine true milling capabilities with a powerful Doosan turning center. The design provides unmatched flexibility within a complete spectrum of part geometries. From simple turning or milling to complex, simultaneous multi-axis machining, complex parts can be produced on one machine in a single setup.

Depending on the Puma MX model selected, the turning spindle is powered by motors ranging from 20 Hp to 40 Hp, and capable of heavy and interrupted cuts in hard materials, long-term accuracy, and superior finishes. MX machines are equipped with a 12-station turning turrets able to accommodate live tooling at any station and a 40-tool Coromant Capto C6 ATC (80 tool optionally available). Milling spindles are 25 Hp and 30Hp depending on the model selected, with maximum speeds of 12,000 rpm.

Puma mill-turns are available with dual spindles as the Puma MX 1600S, MX2100S, MX2600S, and the MX3100S for parts as large as 21.3" diameter with maximum lengths from 40.2" to 60.6". Single spindle models with programmable tailstock are available as the Puma MX1600 and MX2100.
