The TFZ series from Samag Group combines both boring and milling technologies in one machine able to manufacture complex cubical workpieces common in moldmaking applications. The combination allows machining from all four sides of the workpiece in a single clamping process. The compact and rigid machine structure was developed with finite element analysis technology. All parts located in the torque path have been both statically and dynamically optimized, the company says.

The series includes five models: the 2-1000 and 2L-1000 for machining small and medium molds to a maximum drilling depth of 1,250 mm and bore diameter of 36 mm; the 3-1500 and 3L-1500 for machining medium and large molds to a maximum drilling depth of 1,800 mm, bore diameter of 65 mm and table load of 20 t; and the 4-2000 for large-scale moldmaking to a maximum drilling depth of 2,300 mm, bore diameter of 65 mm and table load of 50 t.
