CoolTool™ from Cool Clean Technologies, Inc. (Valencia, CA) provides selective cooling, cleaning and lubrication for machining processes. The system uses AMQCL (Advanced Minimum Quantity Cooling Lubrication) technology comprising a stream of carbon dioxide (gas/solid) as a coolant and lubricant base stock. A small amount of virtually any lubricant additive (adjustable from 30 to 120 mls per hour) may be introduced into the coolant stream using a propellant gas to form a powerful cooling lubricating composite spray. Unique Coanda spray nozzle and electrostatic charging technology are used to blend and deliver a powerful cooling lubricating spray that penetrates and sticks to a machined surface. Dual spray applicators may be employed to form any combination of cooling, cleaning and lubricating spray patterns on a workpiece or tool. Spray compositions and temperatures are infinitely adjustable between wet to dry, and cool to near-cryogenic, respectively. Standardized tests performed by a nationally recognized and independent laboratory demonstrate that the system outperforms conventional flooded coolant processes in terms of both uniform tool wear and cutting force. Applications include precision grinding, hard machining, micromachining, printed circuit board machining, singulation of wafers and flip chip substrates, progressive stamping, machining plastics and ceramics, woodworking, laser machining and spot cooling. Additionally, the system may be integrated directly into new or existing machining equipment and processes to provide cool, clean lubrication.
