Meusburger has added two insert models for manufacturing tunnel gates with large contour steps. The E 1693 tunnel gate insert is for high-level contours and allows the gating point of the molded part to be behind a step or fillet, or above the split-line face. The E 1694 insert is for low-level contours and enables gating below the split-line face.

According to the company, tunnel gate inserts with so-called “banana geometries” are the ideal solution for hidden gate marks. Such geometries allow injection of the plastic part from the bottom of the component, the clearly defined tear edge guarantees enables an exact tear of the sprue. A high surface quality enables good flow properties and therefore high process safety during injection molding, the company says.
