Sandvik Coromant’s (Fair Lawn, NJ) new GC1010 insert grade will be showcased at IMTS. The GC1010 was designed to provide a productive cutting solution when milling hardened steel. With capabilities ranging from roughing to finishing, GC1010 was developed in response to growing demand from the die and mold industry. The GC1010 grade features a thin PVD coating combined with a fine-grained hard substrate, and excels in roughing to finishing of tool steels, ISO-H hardened steels and ISO-P steels. The new insert can also be used to boost productivity in the finishing of ISO-K cast irons.
