The EDM theory behind the system lies in the physical processes leading to the formation of the spark and metal removal. During the discharge, users can identify three main physical phases in succession: build-up, discharge and fade. The company says that by finding the right moment to interrupt pulses, the user is able to optimize the number of discharges per unit of time and thereby increase the removal rate. Secondly, by finding the right moment to increase the current, the company says the user will observe the desired ejection of the crater material while requiring fewer pulses (and reducing electrode wear as a result). The increase in current will not have consequences for the roughness, wear or gap width, according to the company.
