Bock Workholding Inc. (Ford City, PA) has introduced a line of Hydraulic Twin Vises designed specifically to shorten loading time and reduce operator fatigue in high production, short cycle environments. Activation of the vises can be manual or through the machine’s program. The new hydraulic vises are available in both 4” and 6” twin vises and feature a very compact design able to produce a clamping pressure of 4,000 pounds with a hydraulic line pressure of 7,200 psi. The systems are single acting with a spring return—a feature which simplifies connection requirements, increases reliability and makes the system very compact. All hydraulic elements are inside the clamping mechanism which can be exchanged in minutes to virtually eliminate downtime in an emergency. Each vise can hold two parts, and the jaws have a clamping travel of 1/4" total, 1/8" per clamping station. The vises are available individually or in turnkey automated systems with several vises mounted on Bock Locator Plates and all tubing and valving installed. The company can include manual override valves as well as pressure vessels for use on machining centers with pallet changers.
