Horizontal Hot Tip Processing

Mold-Masters Limited (Georgetown, OH) has designed the Melt-Disk™ (patents pending) hot runner system, which provides simple, versatile horizontal hot tip processing for direct side gating applications. The key to this system’s processing performance is the controlled heating element on the disk portion that ensures optimal heat control in the gate area. The disk acts as a “mini-manifold” in applying heat to the runners right up to the hot tip seals. The system’s unique expansion joint provides a leak-proof seal when heated yet is easily removed when cooled. Perfect for such parts as pipettes, syringe barrels and needle shields, the system delivers simultaneous side gating for two, four, six and eight parts per drop. This system also is available with tips angled at 0°, 30°, 45° and 60° from horizontal. The system is the first such system to be built exclusively with standard components for reduced leadtimes, ease of integration and fast global support.
