The MSF machine nozzle features a gap filter design that is said to offer a greater flow area than screen-pack designs, resulting in lower pressure drops. The gap size is determined by the height of the ribs relative to the nozzle’s ID and can be increased by cylindrical grinding. The nozzle is available with gap sizes ranging from 0.1 to 1.2 mm.

The ES-2 purgeable nozzle and MF-200 mixing nozzle are both low-pressure systems in which filtration size can be customized to specifications. Large filtration passageways ensure low pressure losses. The ES-2 can be used with reinforced materials and is designed to be easily cleaned by unscrewing the 2-5-mm (0.08‐0.20") #2 nozzle tip and then slowly purging the machine barrel. Recommended for frequent color changes, the MF-200 offers fast, double-action color mixing. At the end of one color run, the first mixing nozzle filter can be removed and cleaned while the second nozzle is installed and run. The nozzles may be cleaned ultrasonically.

The company’s NM shut-off nozzle is designed to minimize drool and save material and service maintenance. Operation is completely automatic; injection pressure causes the shut-off needle to open and allow plastic melt to flow freely. As soon as injection pressure is decreased below a specified pressure, a high-temperature Inconell spring pushes the needle into the closed position, shutting off the flow of plastic. The opening pressure can be customized, and the NM can be flushed clean while on the barrel.
