DMG MORI has introduced three additional machining centers based on its duoBlock platform: the DMC 100 H and DMC 125 H high-performance HMCs, and the DMC 100 U automated five-axis universal machining center. All three feature fast pallet changers.

The focus of the DMC 100 H and DMC 125 H is heavy-duty machining. In addition to the standard spindle, a gear spindle is available with torque ranging to 1,600 Nm and a 69.7-hp (52-kW) power rating at 8,000 rpm. According to the company, combining this with the heavy-duty machining package enables removal rates of greater than 27.5 in.3/min. for titanium alloys, for example.

The DMC 125 H handles a maximum workpiece size of 49.2" × 63.0" (1,250 × 1,600 mm), and the DMH 100 H accommodates 39.4" × 63.0" (1,000 × 1,600 mm). Maximum workpiece weight is 4,409 lbs. The 41.3" (1,050-mm) horizontal clearance allows the use of tools as long as 35.4" (900 mm). Cooling of the motors in all linear and rotary axes ensures maximum long-term precision, the company says. A frequency-controlled, high-pressure pump ranging to 80 bar is optionally available to optimize the machines’ efficiency.

The DMC 100 U duoBlock five-axis machining center features a 12,000-rpm 130-Nn spindle, with a powerMaster-motor spindle available as an option. This spindle offers a torque of 1,000 Nm and a power rating of 77 kW for handling demanding machining tasks. Its Spindle Growth Sensor (SGS) compensates for spindle growth and is said to guarantee maximum precision. It has a swivel range of -30/+100 degrees, making the powerMaster well-suited for machining of complex titanium components. The machining center alternatively can be equipped with the 5X-torqueMaster gear spindle, which features increased torque ranging to 1,300 Nm and a power rating of 49.6 hp (37 kW) at 8,000 rpm. Structural rigidity also has been increased, and it offers swivel ranging to 180 degrees. A more rigid B axis and integrated cable track are designed to ensure maximum flexibility and reduce machining times.

The DMC 100 U can accommodate workpieces ranging to 39.4" × 63.0" (1,000 × 1,600 mm), and weights to 4,409 lbs. An intelligent wheel magazine with space for 453 tools and chip-to-chip times from 4.0 sec. help boost productivity, and a frequency-controlled, high-pressure pump ranging to 80 bar can further boost efficiency.
