The HBZ TR 80 T in Handtmann A‐Punkt Automation GmbH’s HBZ Trunnion series offers a turning option, further expanding applications for the five-axis HPC horizontal machining center line. The HMCs can handle workpieces ranging to 1,700 mm in diameter in applications in titanium, steel, aluminum and other materials, in both light and heavy-duty operations.

The machines feature a compact and rigid design, and a double-bedded and driven NC‐swivel‐rotary‐table. They also offer a range of spindles that can vary from a high-torque version with as much as 1,010 Nm of torque and an HSK 100 tool interface, to a high-power spindle as fast as 30,000 rpm and featuring 156 kW for aluminum machining. The horizontal machine concept means chips can be removed quickly and permanently from the workpiece and out of the workzone, the company says.

Travel speeds as fast as 60 m/min., fast accelerations and a variety of automation solutions also provide high productivity and precision during dynamic five‐axis machining, Handtmann says.
