The FBL-460 from Chevalier Machinery features a 45-degree slant bed, rigid box ways structure, programmable tailstock and 6.3-inch through hole. Features also include bar capacity, 33-inch maximum swing, maximum turning diameter of 26.8 inches, and maximum turning length up to 80 inches.
The ribbed Meehanite cast iron mono-block casting––with hardened and ground hand-scraped slideways––helps resist deflection and vibration during heavy machining and ensures stable end-to-end cutting of long shafts, the company states.
The machine offers a flexible, accurate and efficient solution for mixed-volume, short-run or dedicated high-volume applications, delivering fast parts machining of bars up to 6.3 inches in diameter at speeds up to 1400rpm, X and Z travels of 14 inches and up to 83 inches and 708ipm rapid traverse. The X- and Z-axes positioning accuracy is ±0.0002" while repeatability is ±0.0001". Dual chucks application is available.
The lathe features 35HP, AC digital spindle motor with a two-speed gearbox. It produces 735 ft.-lbs. torque at lower rpm. The fast 10-position servo-indexing turret offers 0.5 seconds tool indexing time. The OD shank is 1¼ inches and the boring bar holds up to 2.5 inches. The carousel is held by a large curved coupling and clamped by hydraulic pressure.
