The HBZ series five-axis horizontal machining centers from Handtmann use high-performance spindles to achieve high material removal rates, particularly for machining aluminum in aerospace applications.

Offering material removal rates of more than 41 kg/min., the HBZ AeroCell features a 156-kW, 30,000-rpm spindle and an integrated pallet changing system. Pallet sizes range from 4 × 2 to 7 × 2 m. X-, Y- and Z-axis travels measure 80 × 80 × 80 m. For increased productivity and flexibility, additional automated solutions can be installed to link several machines together and store multiple pallets in a single rack.

For smaller workpieces, the HBZ CompactCell series offers palette sizes of 2 × 1, 3 × 1 and 4 × 1 m. It features an 81-kW, 30,000-rpm spindle, and XYZ travels measuring 60 × 40 × 60 m. An automated pallet system that runs on rails helps reduce downtime.

The HBZ Trunnion series is well-suited for machining steel and titanium as well as aluminum. The three machines in this series are equipped with NC rotary-swivel tables measuring 800, 1,200 or 1,600 mm in diameter. A rigid machine design enables fast machining with spindles offering as much as 30,000 rpm and 1,010 Nm of torque.
