Designed for gundrilling of high-precision holes in ejector sleeves, medical and aerospace components, Nagel/TBT’s (Ann Arbor, MI) deep-hole gundrilling machines feature achievable speeds ranging from 1,000 to 35,000 rpm. These spindles are direct drive units which have been specially designed for the forces and coolant pressures which are deephole gundrilling-specific. The lack of the drive belts and the spindle integrated coolant coupling eliminate external vibrations, leading to higher hole quality, productivity and tool life. The specially designed coolant couplings allow the combination of extreme spindle speeds with through the tool coolant pressures up to 3,000 PSI. Automatic tool clamping systems are optional when automatic tool changers are required for the machine. The machines are custom built and utilize linear roller guideways and precision ballscrews. They can be fitted to almost any drill depth, ranging from 125 mm to over 4,000 mm. Optional features include full CNC controls, multiple axis drilling, compound angle drilling, conventional machining, etc.
