Takumi USA’s H-12 bridge-type, double-column CNC machining center is said to deliver improved surface finish, high precision and fast throughput with an inline, direct-drive spindle. The double-column design is rigid and features roller-type rails on all axes. The close proximity of the spindle to the bridge casting reduces overhang and the ladder design of the bridge provides greater support to the head casting, says the company. Direct-coupled ballscrews are designed to increase accuracy and absolute encoders provide fast startup.

The machining center features X-, Y- and Z-axis travels of 53.2", 37.4" and 23.6" (1,350, 950 and 600 mm). The 59.1" × 37.8" (1,500 × 960 mm) table can hold a maximum load of 5,511 lbs. (2,500 kg). The inline, direct-drive spindle runs at a speed of 15,000 rpm and is equipped with a CAT/BT40 spindle taper. The machining center is also equipped with X, Y and Z rapid traverse rates of 1,181 × 1,181 × 1,181 ipm (30 × 30 × 30 m/min.) and a swing-arm automatic tool changer with a 30-tool capacity. The company’s additional three-axis CNC machines, including the VC0852 and the H-12, are equipped with a FANUC 31i control.
