Mitsubishi EDM’s (Wood Dale, IL) EA12V die sinking EDM incorporates new features to enhance accuracy and productivity. The space-saving design reduces the floor space requirement by up to 20 percent compared to conventional models; this feature reduces installation space and simplifies the maintenance area. Mitsubishi’s patented E.S.P.E.R. II is used to easily create NC programs, power settings for burning, and orbital data for finishing. Various measurement programs for work pieces and electrodes are included. Automating the machine is further simplified by the option of locating the control on the left or right side. The heat shielding cabin structure and new thermal displacement compensation features enhanced accuracy by suppressing the thermal displacement caused by changes in the ambient temperature. Another feature contributing to higher accuracy is the multi-position work tank that allows the operator to set-up while circulating the dielectric fluid. Finally, the standard 4 millionths 3-axes linear scales improve total-machining accuracy.
