A new line of date code inserts from Plastixs LLC (Shrewsbury, MA) are longer lasting and more reliable than traditional date inserts. PLX Series of inserts are designed to withstand heat, mold releases, and material flash—all conditions that cause other inserts to fail. The inserts feature the ability to reliably turn the center piece of the insert to change the date. Unlike traditional inserts, it is designed to allow users to access the insert from the rear of the mold using a simple flat-head screwdriver. The inserts also are designed to be easily cleaned if necessary to enable continued productive use. The inserts, made from pre-hardened 416 stainless steel, are regularly run at temperatures up to 350°F and are unaffected by heat and mold release agents. In addition, precision tolerancing of the critical dimensions ensures that the PLX inserts control and actually take advantage of flashing, to produce a smooth rotation. This keeps the insert functioning for an extended period of time with no maintenance required. Engraving options on the inserts include information such as material codes, shifts, quarter/year or year codes. Inserts are available in sizes from 4mm-20mm; and quantity discounts are available.
