Performance Alloys and Services, Inc. (Germantown, WI) has continued to make improvements to their proprietary line of Beryllium-Free, MoldStar® Copper Alloys originally developed by Performance Alloys back in the late 90’s, when other “specialty” alloy producers and distributors began faltering on engineering grades of copper alloys. Since then, both MoldStar®90 and 150 have become the copper alloys of choice to replace C17500 and C17510. Both C17200 and C17510 contain the element Beryllium, which many in industry suspect that products containing Beryllium are in line for abatement and liability similar to that of Asbestos. Performance Alloys has remained committed to development, production and inventories of high grade copper alloys that are first and foremost, free of any Beryllium content , and are going to meet the demands of high volume, high speed molding. MoldStar®90 and 150 are ideally suited for molding surfaces such as core and cavity details of all shapes as sizes as well as for inserts on extremely large molds. Performance Alloys also has three grades of MoldStar® Aluminum Bronze alloys which have a proven track record particularly in unscrewing molds for ejector sleeves, bushings and wear pads. In addition to product improvement, expansion of size and inventory, just as they originally set out to do when founded in 1987, Performance Alloys has continued to add machining capacity/capabilities along with the technical support for customer specific applications.
