The new HELIDO 600 UPFEED line from Iscar Metals, Inc. (Arlington, TX) is an extension of the original HELIDO family of tools. The original HELIDO combines the helical cutting edge and positive rake angle design of the HELIMILL insert with the strong construction of the MILL2000. This offers a very strong and economical solution for 90° milling with the HELIDO 490 or 45° milling with the HELIDO 845. The HELIDO UPFEED, H600 WXCU 08 combines the strength of the HELIDO with the FEEDMILL’s unique insert geometry to facilitate milling at very high feedrates. It is possible to machine at up to 0.138 inches per tooth with this new trigon double-sided, 6-edged insert. The inserts are peripherally ground and have a 17° lead angle cutting edge configuration. As a result of this design the resultant cutting forces are directed axially towards the spindle. This provides high stability and enables machining at high feed rates even in long overhang applications. To further increase stability, the WXCU 08… insert is clamped into a dovetail inclined pocket. This provides additional support for machining at higher speeds and feeds. The corresponding FF FWX..-08 face mills bodies are available in 2.0 to 5.0 inch diameters. They have coolant holes and can be applied in facing, ramping, plunging, and helical interpolation applications.
