The FIGA (flexible intelligent gage) CMM from Perceptron’s Coord3 brand is designed for demanding gaging applications on the production shop floor. The machine’s horizontal bearing ways are completely enclosed and protected, with no exposed cabling. High-resolution glass scales provide a thermal inert measuring accuracy, and open access to the measurement volume provides for ergonomic operator loading or applied automation.

Although in a compact footprint, the CMM offers a measuring volume of 600 × 560 × 500 mm. Relocating it to a new point-of-inspection on the shop floor can be easily handled by a standard pallet truck. Integral anti-vibration leveling feet allow for rapid setup at the new station without the need for compressed air.

The machine can be supplied with any of the full range of Renishaw touch-trigger or scanning probes. An integral probe- or styli-change rack is rigidly mounted to the rear of the machine structure so it does not erode the available measuring volume. Standard with the CMM is TouchDMIS measuring software, which features a one-touch “Program Launch” function that enables the machine to be operated in the shop, while part programs can be programmed for CAD either on or off line. Fully customizable inspection reports can be set up to monitor both individual part quality and process capability.
