RJG (Traverse City, MI) introduces their new eDART flx system for molders looking for an affordable, entry level system that provides automated part containment. It is the first module of a developing modular process control system. Future modules will allow users to order an eDART flx that meets the specific needs of their application. The modularity will allow users to upgrade at a later date if they decide they need more capability and to customize the system without overwhelming them with features not needed. Features include automatic sensor recognition and scaling; auto-zeroing of cavity pressure sensors; automatic job selection and simple, robust hook-ups (no mix-up of inputs or complicated cabling); the ability to match a process on the same machine or setup the identical process on a different machine; and, an initial module that provides the ability to view in-cavity behavior. The system is designed for a maximum of eight cavity pressure and temperature sensors. Data allows processors to set alarm bands to catch short shots and contain them. To ensure proper part diversion, the software can be set to control the timing of conveyors, flippers or robots.
