Automated Cell to Showcase Medical Micro-Molding

At Plastec West / MD&M West, February 7-9, in Anaheim, California, Plustech Inc., the North American Branch of Sodick’s IMM Division, will present a live demonstration of medical micro-molding using an automated cell that features the Sodick GL30 micro-injection molding machine.

At Plastec West / MD&M West, February 7-9, in Anaheim, California, Plustech Inc., the North American Branch of Sodick’s IMM Division, will present a live demonstration of medical micro-molding using an automated cell that features the Sodick GL30 micro-injection molding machine. The mold will be supplied Plas-Tech Engineering and the molding material will be Topas COC 8007x10. The automation will be supplied by Star Automation and will include a side-entry robot that will remove the part from the mold.

The GL30 includes Sodick’s V-Line two-stage plunger system, which separates the plasticization and injection processes for consistent measurement and injection of the melt stream. The 30-ton machine incorporates a true hybrid clamping mechanism with an upgraded servomotor-controlled hydraulic pumping system.
