Ampco Metal (Arlington Heights, IL) now offers its high-performance alloys for moldmaking and plastics processing in large blocks. Plates range from 50 to 400 mm thick, and rods have diameters of 15 to 150mm. With strength and wear resistance comparable to many tool steels, Ampco® bronzes are used in friction applications, for wear plates, pin bushings, wear strips, guide blocks, and ejector pins and sleeves. With thermal conductivity up to 10 times that of tool steels, Ampcoloy® high-conductive alloys are often specified for injection mold inserts, cavities, and components; blow mold pinch-offs, neck rings, and handle inserts; hot runner system injection nozzles and manifolds; sprue bushings; core pins; and other thermal applications. These materials provide the advantages of short cycle times and high productivity; good part quality with low scrap rates; and low production costs.
