End Market Report: Growth Trends in Aerospace Expose Opportunity for MoldMakers

After a slow start in the first half of this decade, the aerospace industry has posted solid growth in recent years. This industry is less susceptible to fluctuations in the overall economy than many other industrial sectors, but the global economic slowdown will have a negative effect on demand for some types of aircraft and parts in 2009.

Continuing and Significant Capital Investments in Technology Allow for Entry into Diverse Markets

Survey Says
Despite all the negative news lately, there is “good” happening and a variety of new business opportunities to take advantage of if your company is ready. Now is the time for mold manufacturers to be active. Now is the time to get your businesses prepared, and that’s what many of you are doing, according to an industry survey done last month by MMT, along with sister publication Modern Machine Shop. It surveyed our readers for their views on how the downturn is affecting investment plans. The results are encouraging—revealing that one-third of respondents say business is stable or growing; 28% say the recession has not affected their equipment purchasing plans, but 52% have delayed plans. However, 20% are currently in the process of purchasing capital equipment or software, or actively researching for later purchase, and of those planning to purchase, nearly a quarter expect to purchase in the next three months, 26% in the next 4 to 6 months, and 55% in the next 7 to12 months.
