Save costs by avoiding mold re-work and getting the part designed right the first time. RJG’s new course, Part Design for Injection Molding, provides molders, tool makers and design engineers with a common language and the universal knowledge required to successfully design and produce plastic injection molded components. Class topics will address good manufacturing processes (GMP) for plastic part design, fundamental material characteristics, basic tooling concepts, necessary processing characteristics, molding non-conformities and tolerances. It will also discuss how part design and material selection affect the cost of tooling and piece price.

Improving general knowledge of the steps required for part design reduces the risk of less than optimum tooling conditions, therefore minimizing exposure to injection molding non-conformities that do not meet the quality requirements of the customer.

The course discusses injection molded part designs of simple to complex parts, from the plastic’s point of view (rather than the traditional and unreliable machine’s point of view). RJG instructors will utilize industry examples as reference, and then dive into evaluating and improving part designs Attendees will work in groups to examine parts for flaws and discuss how those design flaws should be fixed. The Part Design for Injection Molding class will be taught with RJG’s award winning training methods.
