Open Mind Technologies AG will present machining strategies in its HyperMill 2013 CAM software and HyperMaxx cutting module at EuroMold, December 3-6, in Frankfurt, Germany. The company also will showcase its HyperCAD-S CAD software, which is especially geared toward the requirements of CAM users.

One of HyperMill’s strategies is a new rib milling cycle that enables toolmakers to mill deep, narrow cavities for ribs in their molds. The software also features an extension for five-axis contour offset finishing using barrel cutters that allows increased step-over distances between passes for free-form surfaces. The HyperMaxx roughing module combines optimal milling paths, maximum material removal and short machining times.

In addition to redeveloped architecture, graphics, database, user interface and API, HyperCAD-S’ core has been redesigned to provide a number of elements that specifically aid CAM programmers, including tool paths, polygon networks, point clouds and a rectangle element, Open Mind says.
