Okuma Applications Engineer to Receive Scholarship

Chris Davala, an applications engineer for Okuma America Corp., has been chosen to receive a 2013 Manufacturing Institute Scholarship from the University of Phoenix and the Manufacturing Institute.

Chris Davala, an applications engineer for Okuma America Corp., has been chosen to receive a 2013 Manufacturing Institute Scholarship from the University of Phoenix and the Manufacturing Institute. His is one of 10 such scholarships awarded to current or transitioning employees in the manufacturing industry.

Mr. Davala has more than 18 years’ experience in manufacturing, mainly in the NASCAR industry. He joined Okuma in 2012 and has experience with CAD/CAM software, prototyping and fixture design.

This scholarship program focuses on bridging the skills gap that many employers within the industry are experiencing. It is intended to encourage employees to attain educational credentials that will foster professional development. Each full-tuition scholarship gives a prospective student the opportunity to complete an undergraduate or master’s degree program at University of Phoenix campus or online.
