On June 22, 2011, Mori Seiki USA broke ground on a 200,000-square-foot factory on a 14.5-acre site in Davis, CA. This Mori Seiki Manufacturing USA plant will be the company’s first manufacturing facility in North America—focusing initially on the popular new X-Class Series.

The $50-million facility—which sits next door to Mori Seiki’s Digital Technology Laboratories (DTL)—will help meet rising market demands in North and South America and combat the disadvantages of a volatile global currency exchange.

Customers throughout the U.S. have responded enthusiastically to the prospect of manufacturing the most technologically advanced machines locally. “Currency exchanges throughout the world are still extremely volatile. With the current strength of the yen, our customers are anticipating machines manufactured here to be very competitive on price, since import costs will be eliminated,” says President of Mori Seiki Americas, Natsuo Okada.

As construction on the site continues, with an anticipated startup date of August 2012, Mori Seiki announces a call for the following employee candidates:  procurement specialists, trade compliance professionals, assembly professionals, machinists, and administration.  Additional open job listings can be found on the careers website.

For candidates interested in learning more about the opportunity to join Mori Seiki’s global team of over 4,000 highly skilled professionals, a career fair will be held at the Davis campus (3805 Faraday Avenue, Davis; CA) on October 5, 2011 from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm.
