Linear Mold & Engineering, a full-service mold design, engineering and manufacturing company, has installed a new SLM 280 from SLM Solutions (Novi, Michigan).

The company now operates 11 total additive manufacturing machines that produce metal parts, including two other SLM models (one single laser and one dual laser) and eight direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) machines from EOS. The company plans to install six more machines throughout the year, including three additional SLM 280s.

“The decision to expand, which was announced last year, was based on customer demand for 3D printed end-use production parts,” says John Tenbusch, President of Linear Mold & Engineering. “We also chose the SLM 280 HL from SLM Solutions based on the company’s wide range of materials and speed to support production runs specific to this particular phase of Linear’s growth.”
