German machining center manufacturer Handtmann A‐Punkt Automation GmbH is celebrating 25 year since its integration into the Handtmann Company Group.

Originally a small firm that built gantry robots, the company became part of the “Handtmann” brand in 1989, and its focus changed to the development and construction of five-axis machining centers, initially for simple machining operations in plastics and aluminum. Handtmann A‐Punkt launched its first profile machining center, the PBZ, in 1993, and many additional products have since followed. Over the past 25 years, the company has expanded production capacity, increased staff and taken its business internationally.

In 2001, Handtmann A‐Punkt opened its first overseas subsidiary in the United States: Handtmann CNC Technologies Inc. Other subsidiaries in Russia as well as service and distribution partnerships worldwide have since followed. The company expects additional growth in the coming years and says it is currently planning a subsidiary for the Asian market.

Handtmann A‐Punkt’s product portfolio has grown as well to include four product lines designed for high-performance/high-speed cutting applications in aluminum, steel and titanium. Its first horizontal machining center was introduced in 2007. In 2012, the company introduced the HBZ Trunnion series, and this year, it further expanded its capabilities by introducing its first turn-mills in this series. It premiered the HBZ Trunnion 80 T at the AMB show in Stuttgart, Germany, last week.

In addition to celebrating Handtmann A‐Punkt’s 25‐year anniversary, the Handtmann Company Group is introducing a new corporate design that it says underlines a change in its company strategy.
