Dormer Offers Indexable Cutters

A merger with Premet adds indexable cutters to the company’s round tool offering.

Dormer Pramet’s new line of indexable tooling, branded Pramet, is said to be suitable for a wide range of general machining applications. Dispatched from Dormer Pramet’s distribution center in Hebron, Kentucky, USA, the multi-application program consists of turning, milling and drilling inserts and holders.  Combining this with the round tool program, through the company’s Precision Twist Drill, Union Butterfield and Dormer brands, is said to make Dormer Pramet a full-line cutting tool ‘One-Stop-Shop.’  Dormer focused solely on round tools before the merger with cemented carbide tooling specialist Pramet Tools was instigated in 2014.

The Pramet range includes tooling for external and internal turning – such as heavy roughing operations, recessing, parting-off and copy turning - milling cutters, and indexable drills with carbide inserts. All are covered in a 506-page catalog, which has been printed in English with French and Spanish versions in the works. The catalog offers a detailed overview of tool geometries and insert grades, as well as providing technical advice and tips. The company also offers a “product selector,” Web-based self-learning software and technical handbooks and digital apps to help customers simplify and optimize daily operations.
