Adaptive Technology Solutions (ATS) considers the initial “Manufacturing Pays” training program that it held in early November so successful that it plans to offer a similar educational event in Cincinnati or Columbus, Ohio, in early 2014. The company also has decided to add a second 2- to 3-day class to teach those who completed the initial course how to operate a CNC machine.

The free, week-long training course is designed to give individuals who are unemployed or underemployed, or who have a background in a non-manufacturing field the opportunity to learn the basic skills needed for a career in manufacturing. The more than 50 attendees of the November class received basic instruction on CNC machining, G-code programming and CAM programming. After completion of the program, each received a certificate of completion and a license for Edgecam software, and will be eligible for annual updates and training.
