The Mike Koebel Western Moldmakers Trade Fair will also include a mini technical conference this year. Covered topics include additive manufacturing, considerations for technology investment and building an efficient toolroom.

The annual event attracts molders and mold manufacturers throughout the Western U.S. to network at a casual reception amid exhibits of the latest moldmaking supplies, services, machinery and equipment. Scheduled for Tuesday, November 11 at the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel and Conference Center in Pomona, Calif, it is sponsored by SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association, MoldMaking Technology, and the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) Moldmaking and Mold Design Divison. Now in its 24th year, the trade fair was named in memory of Mike Koebel, the founder of Prestige Mold Inc. and a dynamic leader on the SPI Western Moldmakers Board.

Speakers at the new technical conference include Lou Young of Linear Mold and Engineering, who will present on new possibilities unlocked by 3D metal printing and conformal cooling; Andrew Samrick of Paragon D&E, who will offer thoughts on what to consider before investing and implementing new technology; and Steve Shannon of ToolingDocs LLC, who will discuss strategies for instituting a clean, organized shopfloor environment.
