The American Mold Builders Association (AMBA), Rolling Meadows, IL, is excited to announce the second in its series of plant tour workshops at Industrial Mold & Machine (Twinsburg, OH) on November 10, 2011, 9:00 am – 1:00 pm, entitled “Innovative Knowledge Management Systems – How Productivity, Quality and Customer Service Improve when Everyone is on the Same (iPad) Page”.

Utilizing 21st century technology and advancements in social media to engage the next generation workforce, Industrial Mold & Machine (IMM) has found ways to keep its employees totally informed on the daily events that impact the company and its operations. When IMM makes a final mold delivery, everyone in the company is notified of the success. When the sales director lands a new order, each company associate is immediately informed of the new business. When engineering changes are made on a tooling job in progress, communications technology is used to convey the changes directly to those in charge of the machining cells so changes can be made literally on the fly. When a new associate or apprentice is trained, the substance and quality of the training is actually impacted by all associates in the organization. Additionally, as a key result of IMM’s knowledge management systems, it is able to extract information through its ERP system to communicate directly with its social network.

During this tour workshop, participants will have the opportunity to tour the IMM facility, engage in structured cross-talk with other senior machining professionals on various aspects of running profitable moldmaking companies and how best-in-class communication tools impact the bottom line.

Carol Ebel, president of AMBA member company Janler Corporation, commented on her plant tour experience last June, “Currently, we are planning some major machine acquisitions and have developed ideas about how we will move forward into the future. My participation in the Mold Craft tour workshop was motivated by my interest in best practices and opening new ideas to explore. The tour was very beneficial – some of our beliefs were confirmed and others were challenged. Although we serve different market places and approach our work differently, there were some “universal truths” in how to build and manage a productive, technologically advanced business. The return on investment was well worth it to us,”

For both AMBA member companies and non-member companies, this is a professional development workshop you simply don’t want to miss! To register for the Industrial Mold & Machine plant tour workshop, click on the event calendar at www.amba.org. Questions? Call 847.222.9402.
