The above video, supplied by CUMSA, conveys better than any static picture or text just how the company’s Double Rack (DR) series lifter operates. As you might gather from the video, the component employs a simplified construction that is said to significantly reduce the size of the overall tool, as well as the required ejection stroke. Additionally, much of the system is oriented along a straight, vertical plane, improving rigidity and limiting the need for multiple angled channels through multiple mold plates. The system features strokes ranging from 14 to 42 mm and drafts ranging to 20 degrees (larger angles available on request).

I solicited this video after seeing the product at the Euromold show. Of course, the DR Series lifter is just one of many examples of technology that caught my eye at the annual exhibition in Frankfurt, Germany. Others include laser welders integrated with laser powder cladding, an innovative quick-change mold system and an additive manufacturing system that uses the same material input as a plastic injection molding press. Click through this picture gallery for a sampling of what caught my eye.
