As I searched through the MMT article archives the words “paperless moldmaking” caught my eye. It was in the title of today’s Throwback Thursday article from Siemens PLM Software. When the article was published in September 2011, Siemens was advocating the advantages of going paperless in a mold manufacturing plant.

This took me right back to the show floor of IMTS 2016, when I visited the Siemens booth at McCormick Place and witnessed how far, in just five years, their software technology has come in order to help customers participate in a paperless – now digital – environment that’s best known as Industry 4.0. And yet even in 2011, this article cited several good reasons for adopting a paperless approach to designing and building molds, and they are still valid today. See if you don’t agree. You’ll find this article on MMT’s website here.
