MMT's European Correspondent Barbara Schulz is charged with sharing news, technology, trends and insights from Europe's tool and moldmaking marketplace. Last month she shared some of the "European-style" apprenticeships shops use to combat the workforce dilemna and next month she will take a look at varous automation strategies common across Germany. So, I thought it would be interesting to share her final report on the state of the European tool and moldmaking marketplace from her work at ETMM.

This includes information from International Special Tooling and Machining Association's (ISTMA) 2016 Statistical Year Book, which contains updated data on international trade and manufacturing of tools, dies and molds, including injection and compression molds for plastics, molds for metal or metal carbides (excluding injection or compression types) and tools for pressing, stamping, punching and forming (dies), as well as production, exports, imports and market size.

Several new layers of information were added, including: 10 major global key players, 10 major key players by category, global values by category,  international trade by category and continent -and international trade export flows between continents.

This edition also introduces economic information on the tool and die industry in 29 countries: Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Singapore, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UK and USA.
