Ambient air enters the first stage through inlet valve (A), where it is accelerated by the first impeller (B). A radial diffuser converts the air's velocity into pressure before the air enters an efficient scroll casing (C), to be ducted through interstage piping to the first intercooler (D). The cooled air then flows into the second impeller (E), again through a diffuser, into a scroll casing, and then into a second intercooler (F). Air from the second intercooler then moves through a third impeller (G), diffuser, and scroll casing before being discharged into the aftercooler and the plant air system.
